Flip/Flop February Day 7 - Sugar Spun / Pattern
This is my day 7 post for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge.
I chose Sugar Spun Nails for today's mani. I have tried a few times, but today's mani is the first time I have tried doing it in a gradient.
I chose Sugar Spun Nails for today's mani. I have tried a few times, but today's mani is the first time I have tried doing it in a gradient.
I used two different pink polishes in this to keep up with my own challenge to myself to use pink in every mani in this challenge.

I decided to do each nail slightly different. On my ring finger I decided to do an accent nail with hearts made using a toothpick. These were fun I have practiced these a few times but is way different on my silicone mat than on my nails.
All in all I think they turned our pretty good.
First I did a base color of Cool Coture by Maybelline-Express Finish Which is a medium grey creme with micro glitter in a blueish color. It was a little tricky to apply it took 3 coats to get a coverage that I was happy with.
I have the same trouble with all my Maybelline-Express Finish polishes.

Then to start my sugar spun nails I first used I Red A Good Book from Wet n Wild-Megalast. I struggled with sugar spun nails the first couple of times I tried it.
Every polish is different as too how big of strings it will create how long it will take to get to the right consistency.
From there I used Candy-licious also by Wet n Wild-Megalast. Last I used Blushing Rose by Color Club to complete my sugar spun gradient mani with accent nail.
I hope you enjoy this mani!
Base color: Cool Coture by Maybelline-Express Finish
Additional colors: I Red A Good Book and Candy-licious by Wet n Wild-Megalast and Blushing Rose by Color Club

Flip/Flop February Day 6 - Fan Brush / Glitter Bomb
This is my day 6 post for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge.
I decided to do a fan brush/glitter bomb hybrid.
This was my first fan brush mani per say. I use a fan brush to do my gradients and this kind of reminds me of sugar spun nails. And of course I have pink in this mani!
I used a base color of Candy-licious by Wet n Wild-Megalast, which is a really pretty medium creme polish.
The first color I used with the fan brush is Morgan by Julep, which is a really pretty dark pearlized purple and with my glitter was more of an accent color.
Next I used Blushing Rose by color Club. I love this super pale pink creme, It is one of the lightest true pinks that I have. Last with the fan brush I used Wing Fling. Wing Fling is a hot pink glitter which I love!
I decided to do an accent nail, not my normal accent nail mind you. I used Gift Of Sparkle by Color Club for my accent nail and I did a free hand tip on the rest of my nails as well.
I hope you enjoy this mani.
Polish used:
Base color: Candy-licious by Wet n Wild-Megalast
Colors used with fan brush: Morgan by Julep, Blushing Rose and Wing Fling by Color Club (I need to fix the label)
Glitter accent nail and tips: Gift Of Sparkle by Color Club

Flip/Flop February Day 5 - 3D / Decals
This is my day 5 post for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge.
I chose to do a 3D mani. I have never used Fimo sticks before and got some as a gift from Erica's Nails and More, so I thought this would be a great time to use them!!!
I used Fifty-Four by Orly which is a glimmery pale pink glitter as a base color on all but my accent nail on which I used Naked by China Glaze which is a beautiful pink shimmer.

I then did an additional coat of Fifty-Four over all my nails for just a little more glimmer over all. I placed my super cute pink flowers and these really pretty green tear drop nail accents as leaves.

Polishes used:
Base color: Fifty-Four by Orly
Accent nail base color: Naked by China Glaze
Tipping colors: Naked by China Glaze and Easy Going by Sinful Colors
Make sure you check out all the gorgeous nails of the other ladies in this challenge.

Flip/Flop February Day 4 - One Stroke / Ombre
This is my day 4 for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge.
Today's choices are One Stroke or Ombre.
I chose to do a one stroke mani as I have never done one before.
I used Easygoing by China glaze as my base color. I love this pretty and sweet pale pastel pink color.
Followed with Anne by Julep which a beautiful dark pastel purple. Renee also by Julep which is a delicate pastel purple.
Does anyone notice a theme here? Pastel One Stroke mani... With of course pink in keeping with my challenge for myself.
My final color choice was Going Platinum by Wet n Wild Fergie. I thought this was a good "foil" for all the pastel.
I hope you enjoy my first attempt at a one stroke mani!!!
Polishes used:
Base color: Easygoing by Sinful Colors
One stroke colors: Tiffany Imposter by Finger Paints, Anne and Renee by Julep, and Platinum by Wet n Wild Fergie

Flip/Flop February Day 3 - Watermarble / Dry Marble
This is my day 3 post for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge.
Today's choices are Water Marble or Dry Marble.
I chose to do a water marble because I struggle with them.
This is the glass that I use when I do a water marble. It is a small glass dessert dish I found at a second hand store. I used room temperature distilled water as we have well water with lots of calcium and rust in it.
I am happy to say that I consider this to be my first truly successful water marble! I love the way that this manicure turned out, I think one of my biggest problems before was not only getting the right kind of polish, but the right color combination.
I completely forgot to either use chapstick, tape or vasaline to protect my fingers so cleanup was a real pain in the butt. All that aside I LOVE the way this mani turned out!!!
Polishes used:
Base Color: White On White by China Glaze
Water Marble colors: Royal Velvet and Oh Cabana Boy by Orly and Reggae To Riches and Rainbow by China Glaze
Please make sure to stop and check out the other awesome manis!!!

Flip/Flop February Day 2 - Stained Glass / Accent Nail
This is my day 2 mani for Jilltastic Nail Design's Flip/Flop February 28 Day Challenge. The choices for today are Stained Glass or Accent Nail.
I chose to do Stained Glass with a slight accent on my ring finger. As I, up to today have never done a stained glass mani before.
After placing the dots of color all over my nails I used Black from Nail Art to represent the "lead" lines between the glass. I created a black accent piece of glass at this point. I had a lot of fun with this as I have actually made quite a few stained glass pieces.
My favorite had to be piece of stained glass art I ever worked on had to be finishing a piece that my sister started. It was for her fiance Josh. She died before she was able to complete it, so about six months after she died I finished it for her. He was so surprised when he got it, he was not even aware she was making it for him. It is based off the Harley Davidson eagle piece that is displayed at Kutter Harley Davison in Janesville, WI. I wish I could find a picture of it, but sadly I can not.
Polishes used:
Glass pieces: Oasis, Fig and Let' Talk by Sinful Colors
Lead lines: Black from Nail Art
